We understand that emergencies can be stressful, and we want to make your visit as smooth and comforting as possible. Here’s what you can expect when you arrive at our hospital:

 

Lobby Hours & Shift Changes

We are open and staffed 24/7, but we do lock our lobby doors at certain times for safety to ensure someone is always there for you and your pet. Our lobby doors are open daily from 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM. During shift changes, from 3:00 PM–4:00 PM and 10:30 PM–11:30 PM, the doors will briefly close. If you arrive during these times, please call us at 919-781-5145, and a team member will assist you right away.

Triage & Care

When you arrive, your pet will be triaged based on their condition. If your pet is in critical condition, they will be brought to the back immediately for stabilization, and our team will discuss the necessary consent, medical history, and symptoms with you. If your pet is stable, they will be seen in the order of their arrival.

Check-In Process

Please complete the check-in paperwork upon arrival. We offer online and paper versions of our check in paperwork. If you choose the online form, you’ll receive a text or email with a link to complete it. This helps us provide the best care for your pet and ensures we have your consent to treat them.

Waiting Area & Space Limitations

Due to the size of our waiting area, a team member will direct you to the best place to wait. If space is limited and your pet is stable, you may be asked to wait in your car with your pet. We appreciate your understanding.

Veterinary Exam & Treatment Plan

Once your pet’s exam is complete, the veterinarian will discuss their findings and treatment recommendations. We will review a treatment estimate with you and obtain your consent before moving forward.

Payment & ID Requirements

Payment is due at the time services are provided. The person paying for the services will need to be present and provide a valid ID. While we accept cash, we prefer CareCredit, debit/credit cards, or Scratch Pay. Links to apply for CareCredit and Scratch Pay can be found under our Payment Options tab.

Visitations and Updates on Hospitalized Pets

In-person visitations can be arranged depending on your pet’s condition. If you would like to visit your pet, please call ahead, and we will arrange a convenient time for you and your pet. We’re also happy to provide updates anytime. We are available by call, text, or email. We appreciate your patience as we balance attending to our hospitalized patients and providing updates to our clients.

Discharge & Aftercare

Once your pet’s care is complete, we’ll help you with the discharge process and finalize payment. You’ll receive detailed discharge instructions, including medication guidance, either in person or via email.
